My name is Mrs. Osborne and I am the Kindergarten teacher at Holy Family. I am very happily married to an amazing husband, Andrew. We met through friends in Nebraska about 10 years ago and have been married for almost 8 years. We are the proud owners of 2 spoiled pound puppies named Bernie and Bandit- we love sharing our lives with adopted animals. Mr. Osborne and I are also a very proud aunt and uncle to 3 beautiful little children, Nora, 6, Gabriel, 6, and Noelle, 2. We love spending time with our families!
When I have free time, I love being in nature. It makes me feel closer to God. Mr. Osborne and I love to go hiking, camping, and exploring. I also enjoy art and history. We try to visit museums whenever possible and I like painting, drawing, and doing other creative things.
Apart from adventures outdoors, I enjoy reading, Bible study, music and movies. My husband and I love to watch movies together and study our shared faith. We both love learning new things. I am also passionate about education and truly enjoy tutoring and volunteer work in our community.
Welcome to Kindergarten!
Here are some things to know about teaching 5 year-olds.
Math- Using Manipulatives in the classroom
Paper called manipulatives, "objects to think with". Research from both learning theory and classroom studies show that using manipulatives to help teach math can positively effect learning. Incorporating manipulatives into mathematics lessons in meaningful ways helps children grasp concepts with greater ease making teaching most effective.
Reading - Readiness for the 5 year-old: The following skills may be observed in a 5 year-old child being ready to read.
Listens carefully when books are read aloud
Shows interest in books and reading
Can recognize letters in their name
Recognizes print around them on signs, television, boxes, and other places
Asks questions and makes comments that show he or she understands the book they are listening to
Religion - Supporting the child in his faith formation by using little prayers and poems.
To Love Him Still
Two little eyes to look at God
Two little ears to hear His Words
Two little hands to do His will
Two little feet to walk His ways
And one little heart to love Him still
